Associations, Environment and Behavior
We all remember our parents constantly encouraging us to stay away from specific crowds of people and from specific places. We also remember associating with that crowd and going to the places we were warned not to go to. It seems that curiosity got the best of us, and it can be argued that good and not so good results came from going against our parent’s instruction. As an adult, the importance of associating with certain crowds and going to certain places is becoming more apparent. We are the company we keep. For some strange reason the thought processes, the ways of doing things and the beliefs are influenced by the company we keep. Therefore it can be argued that we are either participating in creating our success or self sabotaging it through our efforts to remain loyal to our old friends that are not continuing to grow or that simply do not share the same desire. At the Rivers Team we are dedicated to service and being the crowd that your parents want you to associate with.
Environment is another major influence. It either supports or do not support the actions that we take, the way we think and the way we feel about the actions we take. It seems as if environment has this power to either motivate or discourage certain behaviors. Anyone can make the best of any environment that they place themselves in or that they find themselves in. From experience as a youth it was easier to wear a suit and tie to school because I was in business school, at the same time it appeared that the students that were not in business school viewed my suit wearing with disdain or with a reverence of respect. The environment outside of the business school was not conducive to suit wearing. However, it became easier to do because business students associated with business students. It always made me wonder if this same dynamic exists between those who are deemed successful in society’s eyes and between those who are not deemed successful. Through research I found that Aristotle Onassis a Greek Shipping magnate stated that if he had to duplicate his success; he would do one important thing. He would associate with the successful. No matter what we feel about associations and environment, they influence our behavior. So my question to you is; who are you associating with? Are they helping you grow and are they a part of the Rivers Team?
What is behavior? It appears that behavior is a combination of our thoughts, feelings and actions projected outwardly for others to see. I have made an observation in regards to human behavior when gathering information. It appears that in general terms we tend to ask our closest associates for information whether they are qualified to give it or not. Asking them is not the issue though. The issue comes when we believe in the information that we receive from them, when they are not qualified to give it. Who are you receiving information from when you want to clarify whether or not you should purchase a home? I suggest that you contact the Rivers Team. We have over 25 years of experience and the qualifications to answer your Real Estate related questions. Remember this. Do not let the thought of whether or not you can afford a home stop you from taking action, because the reality is that you cannot afford not to purchase one!
